QEII New Generation

The redevelopment of the QEII Health Sciences Centre, is a once in a generation opportunity to rethink and rebuild the way we deliver health care. It is a massive, multi-year project that’s laying out how we’ll meet the health care needs of Nova Scotians for the next 50 years. It will also allow services to be moved out of the aging Centennial, Victoria and Dickson buildings on the Victoria General (VG) site of the QEII.

Halifax Infirmary Expansion

The Halifax Infirmary expansion will have many of specialized surgeries and services.

Hospice Halifax

The new hospice residence in Halifax will have five hospital beds moved from the VG site to Hospice Halifax for a total of 10 beds.

QEII Cancer Centre

The QEII Cancer Centre, which is currently located at the VG site, will be moved to the Halifax Infirmary site. Construction of the new centre will allow all cancer care to be offered in one location. It will also enhance the centre’s teaching and research mandate.

Community Outpatient Centre (Bayers Lake)

The new Community Outpatient Centre in Bayers Lake will have many of the same types of clinics and appointments currently offered at the VG and Halifax Infirmary sites. It will provide a more convenient option for the thousands of Nova Scotians who have to travel to Halifax for certain services.

Outpatient Centre (Halifax Infirmary Site)

A new Outpatient Centre at the Halifax Infirmary site will deliver most services currently offered at the VG site that don’t require an overnight stay in hospital. It will also bring outpatient clinics under one roof.
