Outpatient Centre (Halifax Infirmary Site)

Background

As part of QEII New Generation project, the QEII Health Sciences Centre will be redeveloped and services will be moved out of the aging Victoria, Centennial and Dickson Buildings on the Victoria General site.

Care and services will be delivered at Hants Community Hospital or Dartmouth General Hospital, or the new Bayers Lake QEII Community Outpatient Centre or the expanded and renovated QEII Health Sciences Centre Halifax Infirmary (HI) campus.

Services

  • 18 station renal dialysis clinic
  • QEII Eye Care Centre 
  • Dermatology and plastic surgery (minor procedures)
  • Minor procedures suites
  • Orthopedics (fracture clinic/wound care)
  • Cardiac surgery and vascular surgery clinics for pre and post-op care
  • Internal medicine and cardiology (assessments to determine patient referral i.e. hematorlogy, cardiology, respirology)
  • Cardiology (stress tests, monitoring blood work, EKGs)
  • Eye, Nose and Throat (scopes, biopsies)
  • Urology
  • Specialty services (services requiring sedation such as colonoscopies, oral surgery and pain block procedures)
  • Endoscopy
  • Medical Day Care Unit (biopsies, blood transfusions, IV drug therapy)
  • Diagnostic imaging (x-ray, ultrasound, CT, nuclear medicine)
  • Clinical reserach and teaching in all program/care areas
  • Nova Scotia Hearing and Speech
